A: BAR. Bird acts fairly visual in the cage and in hand. Temp continues to run on the cooler side, although this may be normal for the individual, as mentation is good and bird is eating and acting normally. I suggest to try off heat again and if temp continues to sit around 101 deg F with normal behavior and mentation, the bird can be taken off of temp checks and moved to the back room.

O: Checked temperature - WNL. Respiration quiet and heart rate steady, WNL on auscultation. Drew blood from left medial metatarsal vein. Applied tail wrap. Aged. Cleaned cere wound with dilute betadine swabs, removed some scabbing/dried blood. Scab in AD static, firmly adhered, no drainage. Gave fluids, eye drop, and oral med. Collected 1 large cast and 33g whole chick. Did not eat, but noted some chick fluff on talons. Moved to back room with perch.

S: Hock sitting in incubator, eyes closed and gular flaring. When door opened, looked and started clacking. Struggled in hand. Vocal.

O: Took temp: 101.7. Did intake exam. Did eye exam and stained eyes. Took radiographs. MP did eye exam and found a retinal tear. Did IOPs OU. Put into incubator at 95 deg F.

Initial treatment: Keto OD and 0.79cc of Dexamethasone IM on L side of Keel.

A: Mentation much better than when first arrived. Has head trauma as seen by damage OD. Prognosis somewhat guarded due to retinal tear to right eye. No other apparent injuries found on patient. Will need live prey tested before release

P: Give Keto BID and start Meloxicam tomorrow evening. Continue temp checks until stable. Tomorrow, collect blood for PCV/TS and CBC, along with collect a fecal sample. Set up for vet check. Apply tail guard. Monitor and clean cere wound PRN. Monitor scab in R ear.

S: Standing in box, when picked up started to kick and tried to flap wings.

O: Took temperature: Initially 97.6 deg F. Retook and it was 99.9 deg F. Did a quick look over to see if there was anything obvious. Did a quick look in the eyes to make sure bird was not blind. Damage to the R eye was seen but clear that the bird is not blind OS. Also noted a cere wound. Put bird into max incubator.
A: BAR when taken out of the box, more QAR in hand. Cold. Will need a full exam to get a better analysis.

P: Pull out of incubator after a while and perform full exam.
